Ship of the Year 2023 – Canopée!

The biggest question that always arises during the Maritime Awards Gala is: Which vessel will be awarded for the Ship of the Year award?

We are very proud to announce that our incredibly built RoRo-Vessel Canopée is the winner of this year’s Ship of the Year award at the Maritimes Awards Gala 2023.

The Canopée is an open top RoRo vessel, intended to transport components and fuel for Ariane rockets from France to French Guiana. The ship has an overall length of 121 meters, a beam of 22 meters, a design draft of 4.3 meters and a design speed of 16.5 knots. The ship replaces two 115 x 20 m ships that currently perform the same tasks and, partly as a result, must meet a multitude of sometimes conflicting requirements within very limited dimensions, which leads to a complex design challenge.

We would like to thank the Maritimes Awards Gala family for rewarding us with this prestigious title. We also would like to thank Jifmar Offshore Services who put their trust in Neptune Marine to build this innovative vessel, merci beaucoup! A big compliment to Klaas Beuckens and his team and all the suppliers for working on this great project.

We are happy to keep on supporting game changing actors to turn hybrid vessels from a dream to a reality that you can now see on the water.
